The Louisiana Association of College Composition Conference 2017 is scheduled for Friday, September 29th and Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at South Louisiana Community College in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Call for Papers, Panels and Workshop Proposals / Deadline: Sept. 9th, 2017
Our Conference theme this year is “Writing in the 21st Century and Beyond: Cross-Disciplinary Approaches to College Writing.”
We invite proposals for papers, panels and workshops that address the challenges and issues in college composition and incorporate cross-discipline approaches in teaching writing. Possible panel and papers might address questions and topics such as:
What does a 21st century writing pedagogy look like? What should writing instructors consider in the design of their course, and also facilitate student engagement and motivation? What principals and methods should instructors consider in contemporary writing pedagogy and practice?
Paper and panel topics should address cross-discipline approaches to teaching writing or concerned with college composition pedagogy that incorporate disciplines such as contemporary literature, science, philosophy, popular culture, music, art, current events, technology, or social media, or address writing concerns outside of ttraditional composition and English courses.
All workshop proposals and topics are welcomed especially workshops that address: Developmental writing, ESL and writing, non-traditional students, technology, creative learning, new curriculum models, and innovative methods and practices in college writing.
Fiction and poetry submissions are also encouraged.
Proposals for fiction and poetry should include: your name, brief bio, name of institution or affiliation, contact information, and include a sample of work (Fiction 100-250 words; Poetry 1-2 poems).
Paper proposals should include: your name, brief bio, name of institution or affiliation, contact email, title of paper, and an abstract between 75-150 words.
Panel proposals should include: name of panel chair, brief bio, name of institution or affiliation, and panel topic proposal and 3-5 panelists.
